BARANGAY IX
One of the Poblacions in Lucena City is Barangay IX that we have chosen to be interviewed regarding the projects they are conducting in their barangay. The new set of barangay officials, provided that they’d be able to involve the people with projects that directly and indirectly affect them. With this is mind, the barangay officials with the help of the people, had been able to launch several projects that are first of its kind to the barangay and to the municipality as well.
Nature have it own fury and no force of man can stop the devastating effect of it, to caution the effect of it, barangay officials study and make necessary preventive action to reduce or even eliminate the risk that may arise. The first and foremost prepared by the residents of Barangay IX are the disasters that come to their place. When it comes to heavy rains or storms, it usually happens or causes flooding as it is near the river.
For the sake of no Sangguniang Kabataan officials, there are no projects for youths but there are also projects that are being conducted by Barangay IX officers just like sports leagues carry out for youths only. They have accomplish having basketball and chess games that was performed on their Multi-Purpose Hall and court of their barangay.
As for drugs, the drug rehabilitation continues for those who uses drugs. According to our interviewee, Mrs. Filipina Flancia, drug users if caught will go to rehabilitation center in their Barangay Hall. Barangay officials will go respectedly to every houses of those persons who uses drugs together with the SWAT and policemen of Lucena. Officials and policemen were encouraging drug users to go under rehabilitation within 12 weeks. As for now, they already have 60 drug users who go through rehabilitation and they already have their works now and some of them were experience to study in TESDA.

Their barangay has another projects like the edible landscaping open for all people who lives in Pantoc. If youths are willing to help, they were encourage to assist other adults in this project. When the barangay becomes outstanding, it creates incentives for people as well as having the money managed by barangay officials used for barangay only. Just as it was, where it was a national project, Barangay IX won a contest - karatela, where the money used for equipment purchases was from Barangay.
As of now, they have their project called MRF where garbage separation is being done. This project warns the people that if you do not separate garbage on your own, the barangay will not get your garbage. There are still stubborn and hardheaded ones whose not doing garbage separation but time will come, people who lives here will follow what the barangay officials said.
At the end of our interview with the kagawad, she reminded us to take care of ourselves since there are a lot of crimes happening around Lucena City.
