IN AN UNACCEPTABLE SOCIETY
In the current world, looks and wealth are more highlighted over mannerism and moral values. People are attracted to the physical appearance a person has, a perfect nose, eyes and lips is what the generation appreciates more today. Because of this, other people are particularly fascinated by the fact that there is a lack of exterior beauty that has undergone surgery or facial changes for people to be liked, the surgery that many consider is the only solution. This paper argues that while plastic surgery gives people the chance to get the look they want, for me this is the perfect solution.
Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. While reconstructive surgery aims to reconstruct a part of the body or improve its functioning, cosmetic surgery aims at improving the appearance of it. It is now the talk of the people due to the release of Marlou Arizala or better known today as Xander Ford who undergone plastic surgery for people to like him.
There are many reasons why people choose to have plastic surgery. First reason is the “bad genes,” they are handed down to your birth and will largely dictate how you look throughout the rest of your life. Your looks are determined by your genes, so some people are more strongly motivated to have plastic surgery than to accept what God has given unto them.
Second reason is, reversing the signs of aging. With advancing age our skin becomes loose, and sooner or later will develop fine lines and wrinkles. But if you hope that by having plastic surgery you will be able to look teenager again, then you are going to be disappointed because this is something that not even surgery can do. A good face lift can make you look 10 years younger, but most procedures won’t produce drastic results.
Career boost is the third reason. If your job affects a high lever of customer interaction, then you may want to improve your appearance so that customers notice you differently to how they currently do. With the right procedure your career might just get that boost you’ve been hoping for.
Being liked and accepted by others is a common reason that people is being urged to want cosmetic surgery. Of course, we all want to be noticed, like and accepted by others. Some people turn to surgery to help them achieve this goal. Especially today, people are more looking at your outward appearance so that you can look attractive to them but if they do not like just the way you are, you will feel unattractive and your mood and personality will suffer.
For some people, they undergo surgery to make a new start in life. Plastic surgery can give your body a new appearance, which can then make you feel as though you are a new person. When you feel like this, it’s a great time to make a new start in life with the new you. But keep in mind that there is also a limit to everything especially on undergoing surgery to change the outward appearance. Not because your external appearance changes will change what you're inside but for others, the surgery will give a positive look to life.
If the plastic surgery is complex, it can create lots of complications for the patients especially when the surgeon is not experienced. Infections can also occur at the incision location on the body. Patients might suffer from excess bleeding when the wound is not healed. There are instances when the blood transfusions were also required.
Sometimes patients are expecting a different result however the final output fails to meet the expectations. People thinking that surgery would make them look like celebrities are living in fool’s paradise. At best, the endeavor can help to remove the abnormality in the body. It is important to consult the doctor about the results before wandering to the path of cosmetic surgery. Not because you have undergone a surgery for a change of appearance is you will be welcomed as a whole person you are by the others. Whether your appearance has changed if your behavior does not change for the better you will still be judged by others.
In conclusion, people need to embrace their appearance. Plastic surgery creates a false sense of confidence but the resultant consequences and the fact that it is an extremely expensive procedure points to its redundancy. To maintain a healthy body, one merely needs to exercise regularly and consume natural foods. Ultimately, real happiness is not dependent on other people’s compliments but the discovery of one’s identity and worth.
